Tennessee Getaway

We (our fam, Jay, and Minx) took a little mini-vacation to Tennessee to visit Tyler's cousin, Steven, and his wonderful family. We had such a blast that we hope they'll welcome us back for many more visits filled with relaxation, pinochle, lots of junk food, and some great times at the lake!

This month proved to be the beginning of the impossibility of getting Axl to sit still beside the bear. So you can make somewhat of a size comparison--but this is all we got :)

Dr. Fade and Axl's First Haircut

Axl's hair was getting quite unruly, so Dr. Fade decided it was time for the first trim. It turned out looking pretty cute and we learned for future cuts that giving Axl cookies to eat works only until he starts eating all the hair along with them!

Swimming Hole!

We went with some friends and family to the swimming hole and had a really fun time despite the dirty, freezing water! :) Axl had a pretty good day, despite the fact that he was ready to swim and the water was way TOO cold for the babies! He kept thinking he would enjoy a mouthful of sand, but of course upon testing it, was not happy at all... The adults tried to forget about the cold water by doing some really fun relay races and jumps off the rock.

First Trip to the Zoo!

We took Axl on his first trip to the Cincinnati Zoo with Jay and Cindy's families at the end of July. It was unexpectedly rainy, but we still had a great time watching Axl see tons of new animals for the first time. His favorites were definitely in the cat house (despite the terrible smell!).

My favorite thing at the zoo are the baby monkeys. They wear diapers and are just altogether adorable. For some reason, the Cincinnati Zoo didn't have monkeys in diapers! I was so mad that Jay decided he'd stand in :)
