Today was DeAnna's birthday and also ANOTHER snow day for both Fayette and Jessamine counties, so Megan and De both came to spend a couple hours with us this afternoon! :) Megan and I made a really great cake (if I do say so myself) for De and I had to share the pictures because I was so excited that it turned out pretty! I can usually bake pretty well but it's not often pretty. ;)

Bad News
I did, in fact, waste 3+ hours of my life yesterday enduring 4 blood draws due to a failed 1 hour glucose test.
I do not, however, have gestational diabetes. Oh wait, that's good news! :)

Axl and the Dentist
I will advise all who read this blog not to go a substantial amount of time without seeing the dentist...especially if you are like me and are prone to cavities. Anyway, on my last of 3 visits to get them all fixed (we didn't have dental insurance for the first two years of our marriage) Axl joined me and had his first little check-up. (which frustratingly didn't end up being a check-up at all--just a short sit in the chair and a small flirting session with the hygenist) He had a good time and loved exploring all the new places and even left with a toy he'll never see again--a bouncy ball with a tooth inside that he could easily swallow and choke on.
Waiting to be seen

It's CHRISTMAS!
Many of you know that I have literally lost many nights' sleep over the loss of Axl's baby book in the move. I have blogged most everything that has happened, but I had also done quite a bit of work in the book. I also had a sneaking suspicion that important documents were stored with the book but resisted asking Tyler to look through the files to be sure. This morning, in the attic, which mind you I have looked through at least five times I found the baby book, the calendar I wrote things down in for the first few months, his social security card, birth certificate, and a bunch of other hospital documents. I could NOT be more relieved. This was truly an answered prayer!

Snow Day!
Since I'm not in school anymore (whew!) every time it snows can feel like a snow day to me...But...Megan and DeAnna are actually working real jobs now since graduation so when it snows enough in Kentucky to get a snow day (which is actually happening quite a bit this year) it's a very exciting time! They decided to join Axl and I for the most recent one after feeling a little cabin fever and we had such fun reminiscing our snow cream making days. Axl and DeAnna both got to have their first experiences! For some reason I remembered needing A LOT of snow to make it so we ended up wasting about half a gallon of milk, but the bit that we actually ate was TOTALLY worth it!
Megan putting her snow cream making expertise to workMexican Vanilla makes snow cream so much better!Axl had a GRAND time "stirring"...as you can tell by all the splatter.
We spent the better part of the afternoon trying to get Axl to take cute picture with De but he wasn't cooperating. He has started being adorable and coming next to you somewhere (couch, floor, etc.) and sitting right up next to you in the same position you are...but he won't let us catch it on camera)
Happy Birthday, Granny!

Apologies
Dada-
We are so sorry you missed out on the fun that was dinner tonight.

I also thought this would be a good opportunity to document Axl's habit of smushing food before he eats it. When he first started doing this it was with his thumb because he pointed at things and pushed buttons with his thumb (I thought it was adorable) but now I guess we've moved on to the pointer finger.
Just for the record
Axl is a VERY picky eater these days. The only things we can always get him to eat are goldfish and bread; he is going to turn into one giant carb. Although, he is so tricky in that when he gets in the mood to eat, he'll eat WHATEVER FOREVER...it's like feeding a black hole! Tonight was one of those nights and I love it! :)

Valentine's Day 2010
Since Valentine's Day was on a Sunday this year, we decided to celebrate on Saturday night by going out to eat at Saul Good with John and Erin. (For the record, I told Tyler in advance that I was refusing to go to White Castle for the 3rd Valentine's of our marriage...and any more future Valentine's for that matter...it was fun while it lasted.) We looked for a babysitter at first and then realized that the Stake Youth dance was that night so we gave up. Then that day we had a couple opportunities to take him to some friends' houses that offered to keep him but I had already gotten excited about celebrating with BOTH my Valentine's so we brought him along. Tyler and I dressed up for the occasion and we dressed Axl for the basketball game that night. ;)
New Buddies
Because Tyler works 2-10pm these days it wasn't really going to be very fun for me to go to a Valentine's dance alone, ha, so I kept a friend's twins who are about Axl's age on Friday night. I can't lie and say I wasn't a little scared, but it ended up going SO smoothly and all three of them had a great time together! Bedtime was even uneventful! We hope they'll come visit again soon!
